“Iyanya Will Not End Well” – Yvonne Nelson

Iyanya and Yvonne

It is apparent that Ghanaian star actress, Yvonne Nelson, is still very bitter over her split with Nigerian singer, Iyanya Mbuk. The Nollywood actress is not in a hurry to forgive the ‘Kukere’ crooner for hurting her after she spent over 8 months of her life dating him, giving him her ‘waist’ and love. She is angry that after all she did for him, Iyanya still had the heart to leave her. The distraught Yvonne further said that her ex-lover will not end well if he continues breaking ladies’ hearts.
Iyanya needs to be more honest and be a man of his words. It’s not good if he keeps taking advantage of women. My mum always says any man who takes advantage of women won’t end up well. It’s called Karma; it’s going to come back to you. He will not end well,” the heart-broken Yvonne said. She further advised the ‘Your Waist’ singer to “treat women fairly and be an honest person.”

FG begins full payment to 38,000 PHCN workers

ABUJA – The full payment of entitlements to 38,000 workers of Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, has commenced.

Director General,  Bureau of Public Enterprise, BPE, Mr. Benjamin Ezra Dikki disclosed this during the visit of House of Representatives Committee on Privatisation and Commercialisation to the agency.

Mr. Dikki explained that 6,700 staff that had issues during verification were being sorted out, while 2,500 casual staff were expected to be regularised by the PHCN management before payment of their entitlements.

On the power transaction, the BPE boss informed the lawmakers that the Bureau had received full payment for 14 power generation and distribution companies from the core investors.

Mr. Dikki further informed the lawmakers that the Bureau was in the process of constituting a Privatisation Tribunal to handle privatisation cases expeditiously.

He said the Tribunal will also assist the Bureau in enforcing privatisation contracts.

In her remarks, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Privatisation and Commercialisation, Hon. Khadijat Bukar Abba-Ibrahim commended the giant strides made by the Bureau of Public Enterprises, BPE, in the power sector reform and privatisation which has seen the successful handover of 14 generation and distribution companies to core investors.

Hon. Abba-Ibrahim who led members of the committee on an oversight visit to the Bureau appealed to the Bureau and the National Council on Privatisation, NCP, to at all times “operate in strict compliance with the Public Enterprises Privatisation and Commercialisation Act” of 1999.

She also urged the Bureau to strictly follow the laid down guidelines as approved by the NCP in all its transactions for transparency and credibility.

The Chairman said deliberations with the BPE management during the visit were exciting and had helped bridged the communication gap between the Bureau and the Committee, stressing that the committee members were now better informed on the activities of BPE.

Abba-Ibrahim called for regular interactions between the Bureau and the Committees “as communication gap often breeds mistrust and misunderstanding”.

Shyness: causes, effects and ways of overcoming it.

SHYNESS: CAUSES, EFFECTS AND WAYS OF OVERCOMING IT.
Shyness is feeling uneasy around people in authority, elder ones, and persons of the opposite sex, strangers or even your peers. It is extreme self consciousness that at affects its victims in a variety of ways. Some get embarrassed, eyes downcast and heart pounding, they find themselves unable to speak. Others lose their composure and begin to chatter continuously. Yet others find it hard to speak up and voice their opinions.
Although they are positive aspects to having a measure of shyness. It is akin to modesty and humility, and one of the things God looks for and commends. Furthermore, a shy person is often valued as a good listener. But when shyness inhibits us from realizing our full potential and harmfully affects our relationship, work and feelings, then it is time to do something about it!
Shyness does niot describe what you are, it describes your behavior, the pattern you have learnt and reinforced through experience with others. You think others are making negative judgments of you. You think things will go all wrong if you try relating with other people. You expect things to turn out badly and they often do because you are tensed up and act I harmony with your beliefs.
By withdrawing or not speaking up, you don’t pay attention to others being preoccupied with yourself; you may have the impression that you are unfriendly, bored or even uncaring. You let opportunities pass you by. You accept items or situations you really don’t need. All because you are afraid to speak up and express your opinion. You lose out on the joy of meeting people and making new friends or doing things that will enhance your life. But others lose out too because they never get to know the real you.
With tie and effort, one can overcome shyness. To start with, stop worrying about whether the other person is evaluating you. Desist from assigning bad motives to other persons, not trusting them and thinking they are going to look down on you.
Secondly, try to think positively. No one is perfect; all of us have our strength and weakness. A difference in opinion does not mean a rejection of u as a person.
Thirdly, learn to be sociable, to say hello and if possible start a conversation. If you blunder in speech don’t feel condemned, if others laugh, learn to laugh with them. Always remember that does laughing also err in their speeches at times
In addition, one can overcome shyness by wanting to change and believing that change is possible, rehearsing a situation beforehand, dressing tastefully, making sure your clothes are clean and well ironed, acting with confidence, heeding to advice from elderly ones, e.g. parents, teachers because they can’t possibly advice you wrongly.
Conclusively, shyness is not an overall extreme in any case, try as much as possible to avoid being extremely shy. It doesn’t pay at all!

IMMORAL LOVE: A CONTRADICTION

The concept of love seems so familiar yet, rarely understood. Love is one of the most frequently used words in our daily conversation, but unfortunately, we possess little knowledge if the term and its implications. In this contemporary era, love means quite different things to different people; the real meaning is completely disfigured. Terms like “falling in love”; love is blind,” etc, call for reflection on the moral question of the term itself and its implication. More so, some of our youths are ignorant of what love means. Some say “being in love” “likes someone”.
These statements are simply incredible. They reveal that love is generally but erroneously viewed from the perspective of instinctive attraction and emotional affection at the expense of the rational asset, personal conviction and deliberate decision.            The oxford advanced learners dictionary defines love as “the strong affection or deep and tender feeling for somebody or something”. If this is accepted, how can we explain the love for the poor, the sick, and above all, love for the enemy?. How can we love what is not pleasing to us? Granted that love can be ignited by emotional affection but at that stage, it is still infatuation. Love is not an instinctive act but a rational choice.            The foregoing reveals that immorality associated with love comes only when what we call love is a mere infatuation. For instance, “to fall in love”, is totally a contradiction if terms. We cannot fall deliberately; fall is only an accident and so cannot be associated with a deliberate choice. Love goes with responsibility and so, to “fall in love” simply means to rid man of his rational ability and put him at a level of brutes.            The same goes for expression like LOVE IS BLIND and so on. Love can’t be blind when the light of pure reason is illuminated. It has the eyes that pierce and see through the most opaque of visions. It is light and shines out in the darkness of human heart.
However, when we allow physical attraction to blind us from seeing the other as she/he really is, we let our emotions rule over our intellect.
Love therefore should not be regarded as immorality, as the so called youths of today see it but as a perfect virtue to be treasured.

CHARLES TAYLOR SENTENCED TO 50 YEARS IN PRISON

Charles Taylor Sentenced To 50 Years In Prison

Ex-Liberian President Charles Taylor is to serve his 50-year war crimes sentence in the UK, Justice Minister Jeremy Wright has confirmed.

Sweden and Rwanda had also offered to imprison him following the rejection of his appeal last month by a UN-backed special court in The Hague.

It ruled that his convictions had been proved beyond doubt.

He was sentenced in May 2012 for aiding rebels who committed atrocities in Sierra Leone during its civil war.

Mr Wright made the announcement in a written statement to Parliament.

The Special Court for Sierra Leone (SCSL) found Taylor, 65, guilty of 11 crimes including terrorism, rape, murder and the use of child soldiers by rebel groups in neighbouring Sierra Leone during the 1991-2002 conflict.

He was found to have supplied weapons to the Revolutionary United Front (RUF) rebels in exchange for a constant flow of so-called blood diamonds.

Taylor has always insisted he is innocent and his only contact with the rebels was to urge them to stop fighting.

He is the first former head of state convicted by an international war crimes court since World War II.
